· Born to an elvish father and a human mother, Kanda's appearances closely resemble his mother's, though he does have a paler than normal complexion for a Rivaini. Thanks dad. · His father conceived him with the intention of making him a vessel that would allow the Forgotten One worshipped by the secret cult he lead, Geldauran, back into the world. Though he bore a mixed human and elven child with Kanda's mother, he also captured and held a full-human child as well (then used blood magic to make Kanda's mother think they were both hers). When the boys were three, their mother tried to flee with them, but she was nearly killed in the attempt. She was left for dead, her memories erased. Kanda's father tried to force both Alma and Kanda to submit to Geldauran's will and accept him into them so he could escape the Void until the boys were eight, though the experiments repeatedly failed. This he attributed to their human blood and deemed them worthless for his purpose. Rather than kill them, however, he kept them alive in case they could prove useful later, altered their memories, and left them in the care of the local Chantry - after using blood magic to make the Chantry personnel think the boys had been in their custody since infancy. · When they were nine, they met a traveling Seeker - after Alma had attempted to steal the man's purse. The seeker saw potential within the two boys, despite their delinquent ways, and recruited them as potential seekers. They were brought to the Templar training grounds located in the Rivaini city of Ayesleigh, where Seeker Tiedoll could monitor their training. Within two years, the boys were formally selected for Seeker training and were placed under Tiedoll's supervision. At eighteen, they both successfully underwent their vigils, but Kanda emerged with something no one expected: a Spirit of Faith and a Spirit of Valor as companions. · Despite their exemplary skill and service to the Seekers, Kanda has never believed in the Maker or Andraste. Despite (or possibly because) he grew up around the Chantry and the Circles, he's refused any belief almost out of spite... but if really pressed, he might admit that he can see some sense in the Rivaini belief of the Natural Order, but this is not something he shares openly or easily. Even so, he had remained, if not a faithful Andrastian member of the Seekers of Truth, an efficient one - right up until the day that the new Lord Seeker, Lucius Corin, marched the Seekers back to the Circle of Dairsmuid. He watched as the Circle was Annulled and the attached Chantry condemned, watched as the mages and even some of the Sisters that had raised him were slain, and he watched as his mentor was taken into custody for openly defying order to allow the children to flee to safety, under Kanda's protection. He walked away that day and hasn't looked back since. Instead, he found an apostate mage to travel with... · Unbeknownsted to Kanda, when the same experaments with a full-elven child were thwarted by the child's sudden murder, Kanda's father assumed his mother had regained her memories and set out to Antiva to kill her. He killed her and her new husband before accidentally killing their toddler daughter, Lena. He thought to take their other child, but the boy could not be found so he left before he could get caught. · His skill tree actually follows the Spirit Warrior since 'Seeker' isn't a class specialization.
